Scooping the New York Times

“All the News That’s Fit to Print” . . . eventually.

An article in yesterday’s New York Times describes the controversy over a yoga program in Encinitas public schools.  The same controversy that guest blogger Natalia Mehlman Petrzela analyzed in these pages a week ago.

I imagine NYT writer Will Carless had a stricter word count, but whatever the excuse, yesterday’s article doesn’t come close to matching the depth or context provided in Professor Mehlman Petrzela’s account.

Sorry, Grey Lady, ILYBYGTH got there first…and better.

i just saw this! thanks, Adam! Apparently the news is that on Monday all the schools WILL have yoga in schools, not the way these battles usually turn. What is a little frustrating though I am a big supporter of school wellness is that the defenders refuse to admit that there IS an ideology and philosophy underlying yoga….http://fox5sandiego.com/2013/01/03/district-adds-protested-yoga-program-to-all-schools/

  2. Congrats to Natalia! It’s too bad you weren’t cited in the article.

  3. I heard a little bit of this story repeated in an NPR piece this morning. I didn’t hear the whole thing, so I’m not sure if they credited Dr. Mehlman Petrzela…
